Hi,

I am a public librarian in Vermont. Our library subscribes to the New York Times. Is it acceptable for us to offer our
patrons in the library access to Times Select on library computers?

Thank you.

Thank you for contacting The New York Times on the Web.

At this time, we do not have an "institutional ID" for schools, libraries, corporations, etc. TimesSelect , as well
as the rest
of NYTimes.com, is designed for individual use. When a member registers for our Web site ( www.nytimes.com ),
he or she fills out a separate registration form. This avoids confusion over who has responsibility for the ID and
the e-mail address associated with it.

If, for example, you decided to sign up for our free newsletters, anyone with access to the account could change
the e-mail preferences, etc. Things could get more complicated if you purchase TimesSelect using a credit card
(though there is an added layer of security in place here, with an additional password and ID needed). To avoid
this confusion, we suggest that the people of your institution subscribe individually.

Thank you for your inquiry. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Mary Flanagan
